Subject: Formal Company Banquette Etiquette
As we enter into the holiday season, I would like to update you on the importance of work function etiquette. To keep our company’s image positive, here are a few key points to remember:
- What is considered formal cocktail attire?
- What is entailed with good table etiquette?
- What should you talk about?
Formal Cocktail Attire
Women should wear long dresses. Your dress should be simple and classy. Elegance is achieved when you do not wear something inappropriate. Men should wear a tuxedo or suit. Men are not to wear khakis or a quarter button up. Full suit or tuxedo is the required dress code.
Table Etiquette
You are to unfold your napkin and place it within your lap within one minute of sitting down to dinner. Your plate and silverware setting will be correct upon arrival, but you are to remember that the small fork is your salad fork, large fork is your dinner fork, small spoon is your teaspoon, large spoon is your soup spoon. Your water glass should always sit to the left of your wine glass. Following the meal, place your utensils at 5:00 on your plate and place your napkin next to the plate.
Talking Topics
Although this is a work function, you should remember that we are here to leave work at work. You are encouraged to network with others, but not necessarily focused on work. We are to remember confidentiality and not to share information with other employees that is department confidential.
